About Margie Lawson
Margie Lawson left a career in psychology to focus on another passion—helping writers make their stories, characters, and words strong. Using a psychologically based, deep-editing approach, Margie teaches writers how to bring emotion to the page. Emotion equals power. Power grabs readers and holds onto them until the end. How to write the emotion behind the expression
Sharing incongruence between expression and dialogue cue
How to describe the expression without describing the features
Six categories of dialogue cues
How to amplify faces and voices when it counts.

Session 4: VISCERAL RESPONSES: BEYOND HAMMERING HEARTS
One of the biggest challenges for writers is writing emotion in fresh and credible ways. They may be surprised to see that in an emotionally-driven scene, they kept the POV character in their head, intellectualizing about their emotional experience. Learn Margie’s Top Twelve Visceral Rules and you’ll know how to slip in the right amount of visceral emotion to make your scenes emotionally empowering. You’ll learn how to take a scene from the POV character’s head to the reader’s heart.
